The side sunshades are great, but the windshield shade not so much
We mainly got the OneAmg Car Windshield Sunshade + Car Side Window Sun Shade for the side window sunshades as our little one has now got to the point where he will pull off the stick on type and then they stop giving any benefit. This style is shade is great and prevents this issue, there are also a few other benefits like being able to lower the windows. But the windshield shade that was included in the package doesn’t really fit my windshield.
– Great feeling and quality side shades
– Easy to fit side shades, once you work out which way to put them, just pull it over and then line up the velcro pads and stick them on.
– The ability to open the window while still shading our son from the sun is great
– I was a little hesitant to stick the velcro pad to the metalwork of the car
– The windshield shade does not really fit my car very well
– The windshield shade packs away nicely
When the pack turned up I was pretty excited to try it out as it has been a very hot summer this year and we have not had any useable way to protect our son in the car as he now pulls off the normal stick-on kind and plays with them the design of these should fix that issue. The packaging is okay and comes in a resealable thick plastic bag which is great for storing the shades when not in use.
The side shades feel quite sturdy and are very stretchy, The car we used these on is a Vauxhall Mokka and the shade easily slipped over the door. It is important to note that there is a definite correct way for them to go on, there is a point in the side that should go to the top of the door. Then it comes with sticky velcro pads to attach to the car to help hold the shade in place. This concerned me a bit at first attaching them to the metalwork of the cars door, but I’m sure it will be fine. So far though these have completed fixed our problems and our son has not pulled at the shade at all so far, I do not think even if he does that he will be able to meaningfully move it or rip it.
The windshield shade I have tried in my car, a 2011 Alfa Romeo Giulietta and it is just not the right shape for the windshield in that car, the shade is very wide and square, where the windshield in the Giulietta widens at the bottom, and there is a cut out for the rearview mirror and this didn’t fit well either. The flap that is used to hold it in the storage position I used to keep it under the sun visor on the one side, it kinda needs another part on the other side to hold it up.
