11-in-1 USB C Hub

11-in-1 USB C Hub

Full dongletown but sleek deisgn and packaging gives a premium feel

Upon receiving 11-in-1 USB C Hub package the first thing I noticed was how nice the packaging was, most of these types of things come in relatively unimaginative cardboard boxes, but this came in a nice fabric textured box and was lined with foam to protect the hub in transit. if you are planning to transport this around, maybe with a laptop then the packaging can double as a nice protective case for it, but it does add some bulk.

I connected the hub up to my Dell Laptop, via the USB-C/thunderbolt port, although I’m not sure if the hub takes advantage of any of the thunderbolt features. There were no drivers to install or anything like that. As I started to connect things to the hub they all just started to work, so of the USB-A devices that I connected that had been previously used with the laptop threw up messages saying that windows was setting up a new device but that took a second or two and the devices were ready to use.

One aspect that I wanted to test out with the video output, as you can tell from the images included my monitors are a little dated but the laptop is very new with only the latest ports. The laptop only has USB-C and HDMI and the monitors take DVI and VGA, as this has been a sore spot for a while I have plenty of adapters and you can see I connected a HDMI to DVI adapter to the hub and DVI cable then to the one external monitor, that worked fine. But for the VGA Monitor, I have a USB-C to VGA adapter which I tried in the USB-C port of the hub, but this did not work, I believe this is probably because that adapter requires thunderbolt, but I cannot be sure.

Overall, the hub worked great and is a very good way to get some extra ports available on my laptop, at a time when manufacturers are insisting to put as few ports on them as possible. The hub itself is made of a nice brushed aluminium, and is very similar in feel and colour to the silver aluminium MacBooks so would be a great companion to one of those.
