Hub needed for smart features, but works okay as a dumb bulb
The Ledvance Smart Home E27 ZigBee Light Bulb works well as a dumb light bulb, but smart features do not work without a Zigbee hub.
– Good build quality
– Bright
– No way to use smart features without a hub
So I got this on a bit of whim, looking at the product page and the price of the product I assumed the light bulb itself would include some of the smart functionality, but I was wrong, The first thing in the manual is saying that a hub is required, but even now I know this I cannot see anything on the product page to suggest that this would be the case.
So with this in mind, I have screwed it into a lamp to test it and the bulb works fine, I have included images of it powered, there is also a comparison with the same lamp on the other side of the bed, that lamp has the bulb that came with it, the Ledvance bulb is in the lamp on the left. I cannot see a big difference between the two personally. One of the annoying things about using this as a dumb bulb is that it flashes a few times whenever it is turned on, I presume as it is entering a pairing mode.
