Portable Bluetooth Speaker with Stereo Sound and Rich Bass

Portable Bluetooth Speaker with Stereo Sound and Rich Bass

Great little speaker, ideal for using outside

This might sound crazy, but we actually ordered this Portable Bluetooth Speaker with Stereo Sound and Rich Bass to replace a Bose sound link speaker. The reason being that we mainly used it for barbecues and other garden events where we wanted some background music outside, the Bose did a great job of delivering the sound but I always found myself concerned about a spilt drink or if it got knocked off a table then it would break and it would be expensive to replace. So this relatively cheap alternative seemed like a good idea to take outside and feel less concerned about.

– Pretty good value
– Wide range of audio input
– Interesting design
– Struggles a bit with clarity at high volumes

So upon receiving this speaker, the first thing that struck me was the wood design, I think it is actually made of wood but I cannot be sure, it is a very bold look and I was not expecting it to quite be so much from the product images on the listing. I think I much prefer the design on the front of the speaker, it is a strange combination of style from different decades.

When I turned the speaker on the first thing I needed to do was pair my phone and this was easy, it starts in pairing mode so I just needed to find it in the Bluetooth section on my phone and connect. One thing to note is that it does not seem to handle multiple Bluetooth connections very well and to get it to change the device I had to manually disconnect from my phone.

When it came to playing music, at low volume levels it sounds perfectly acceptable, clarity is good and there is some bass, not much but it is fine. One thing it is important to remember when using Bluetooth is that there is the volume level on the speaker and the volume level on your device to consider, when both of these are on max it does get pretty loud, but if you are not sensible it can sound really bad. There are built-in equalizer settings to the speaker and they help with this a lot. I found equalizer number 3 to be the best for rock music whereas number 5 is the best for R&B. I have included a video of me using the speaker, this is recording on my iPhone XR with the phone volume at 100% and I increase the volume on the speaker in the video then cycle through the equalizer options. The audio being played in the video is Generic Funk Session 2 by Enoe, it was the only royalty-free music I had available, and if you are interested in how this handled it I recommend you look for the original.

There is quite a bit of weight to the speaker but not a bad amount, I am hoping that it just helps keep it in place. Also the remote is a nice touch, but I think in reality most people will just control it with their phone. Also, the plethora of input options is nice but again I think we will almost always use our phones via Bluetooth.
