Did not work with our dog
We had fresh turf laid about 6 months ago and it has been a mission to try to fight patches from our dog the whole time, we saw the Pet Science Lawn Aid for Dogs and thought it was worth a shot.
Upon receiving the chews I was surprised how large they were, we have a large Labrador so they were fine for him, but I imagine a smaller dog might struggle with them whole. He needed 4 chews per day based on his weight, although there seems to be no direction when or how to give them to him, at the start I was spacing them out throughout the day, giving him them as treats, he wasn’t overly fond of the taste but if I got him excited and threw them to him he would try and catch them and that worked well. In the end, though we just starting adding them to his normal food.
We feel like it did make a slight difference, in that rather than killing the grass straight away it would turn it a yellowy-green colour first then if it had a second does of urine then it would die. Which seemed better than before he was on these.
As the lawn is so new we have been making a lot of effort to try and maintain it, we always water down any areas he urinates on where possible, and every now and then we put seed and soil down on dead patches. I have included 2 photos with my review, the first was taken on the day he started on the chews and you can see the previous day I had patched the dead spots. The second is after having him on the tablets for 3 weeks, I wanted to give it a good go as the listing suggests it can take a couple of weeks to notice, but as you can see there are a lot more dead patches, which I will be covering very soon.
In fairness, it has also been a very hot few weeks which has not helped the situation I’m sure, but as you can tell by the greenness of the rest of the grass we have been regularly watering it and trying to keep it healthy.
Also, I wanted to make it very clear that I am in no way saying the product does not work, but it does not seem to be working well with our dog, we will continue to use the rest of the chews of the next couple weeks and if anything dramatically changes I will be sure to come back and update this.
