Very good value led strip lights

I wanted this kit of Led Strips Lights to place around my desk to add a bit of ambience and also some extra light to the room. I was quite impressed with the packaging, it felt more premium than I was expecting for the price point. Once you take the contents out of the box you will need to connect the light strip to the power connector one thing to note is that the side of the power connector with the writing and the arrow needs to be the same side as the LEDs, then you need to line up the pins and apply quite a bit of force to get the two sides connected.

Once the connectors are together it is a good idea to test the lights to make sure that it is working correctly and when I did this I was very impressed by the brightness of the LEDs. You can see in the photo attached of the lights illuminated in the coil how bright they are when looking directly at them, that is taken in a room with the light on and natural light coming through the window.

I started to run them around the edge of my desk, the size was perfect for my needs, and I recommend that you measure the area you want to apply these to before purchase as there is no way to make them longer or shorter. Upon removing the film from the strip to apply it I was a little concerned as the surface Underneath did not feel sticky and seem very difficult to apply to the surface. I found that I needed to hold it in place for quite some time to get it to hold in place but once there the hold was quite good, the only part of the set up I had an issue with was running it back to the power which meant hanging upside down with the sticky side up and the LED facing downward. I’ve included photos of this and luckily there are quite a few little double-sided sticky pads which worked perfectly to stick it up where I needed.

There are quite a few settings for controlling the colours of the lights, I found the fade settings to work best for me. I did trey the music settings and they definitely work, but I think where it is reliant on hearing it through the microphone it is not as synchronised as it would be if it was directly transmitted data, say over USB. One nice touch it that it remembers the previous setting after it is turned off and on again. And finally |I’m glad the remote says ‘ON’ instead of ‘NO’ like in the marketing images.

UPDATE – 3 Months On
Unfortunately, the adhesive on the lights became a constant source of frustration starting about a month ago and I have found myself constantly trying to re-adhere them to the top of my desk, so sadly I have removed them and they now live in a box in the garage, I still like the lights but I do not recommend trying to stick them upside down.
