Good looking keychain USB3.0 Flash Drive but is a bit slow
So I got this USB3.0 Flash Drive to keep on my keys as I work in IT it is always useful to have some storage on you at all times with some useful items loaded. When the drive arrived my initial impressions were good, I like the design and the waves in the top of the drive not only look nice but also give extra grip when removing the drive. I do find the keychain loop provided a bit chunky, but it is nice that they give you one.
When I plugged it in I checked the size of the USB3.0 Flash Drive and you can see from my screenshot that the useable space is almost 63GB which is good. Although where this drive lets itself down a bit the transfer speeds, I’m not looking for anything particularly fast for my purposes but if you are just bear it in mind as they claim speeds of 70-130MB/s which is quite a bit more than the unit I received was capable of.
Performing the Black Magic Disk Speed Test on the device I could get around 40MB/s from it for both read and write, I have attached the screenshot which the extra details of working it formats etc. if you are interested. this speed seems pretty reasonable, especially for the price. I also decided to do a more real-world test by adding a large file to it, I selected a 1.32GB zip file, which took about 50 seconds to transfer, I recorded the screen and have included that too. At that rate that is roughly 25 MB/s for a complex real-world file. I’m in no way upset by these speed findings, just either I received a slow unit or they are exaggerating in their description. One thing I have also found is that the drive gets quite warm when being used, nothing extreme, but worth noting
